CREAM OF THE WEST MONTANA MEATBALLS
Everybody loves meatballs! This recipe is a real crowd pleaser, great for a gathering, a sandwich or to pack in a lunchbox.
INGREDIENTS
1 lb. good quality ground beef
1 lb. ground pork
1 cup Cream of the West Roasted Ranch Oats
1 large onion, chopped fine
1 cup breadcrumbs
12 oz. milk or beer
1 ½ tsp salt
½ tsp black pepper
¼ tsp. allspice
½ tsp. ground cloves
DIRECTIONS
Combine meat and onion, mixing well. Add the remaining ingredients to the mixture being sure to work the ingredients well into the meat. Roll mixture into 1 ¼” balls and brown in hot oil in a large skillet or frying pan. Transfer browned meatballs to casserole dish or roaster and bake slowly at 300 degrees – about 12- 15 minutes.
Flour may be added to drippings to make gravy.
Note: I sometimes use Italian seasonings or curry powder rather than allspice and cloves for a different flavor.
Top with gravy from drippings, BBQ sauce or marinara!
