Quick and Easy 7-Grain buns
Ingredients
- 1 cup warm water
- 4 Tbsp milk
- 2 Tbsp yeast
- 1/3 cup oil
- 3 Tbsp honey
- 2 Tbsp yeast
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 egg – beaten
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 ¾ cups whole wheat flour
- 1 cup Cream of the West Roasted 7-Grain
- EGG WASH – 1 beaten egg + 2 Tbsp water
Directions
Combine warm water, milk, yeast, oil and honey. Let sit 10 minutes.
In a large mixing bowl, combine flours and salt. Add beaten egg and
yeast mixture (after it has sat for 10 minutes). Mix well. Add slightly more liquid or flour as needed to make a smooth, non-sticky dough. When dough ball comes together, knead with dough hook of a stand mixture (or by hand) for 5 minutes.
Remove dough ball to floured surface and divide into quarters. Make each quarter into a ball and divide each quarter again into quarters. You should have 16 dough balls. Places balls on a lightly greased pan and press lightly into a disk shape. Cover and let rise 20 minutes.
Prepare egg wash and lightly brush over tops of dough balls. Sprinkle a little Cream of the West Roasted 7-Grain on top.
Bake at 400° for about 10 minutes. After removing from oven, immediately move buns to cooling racks.
Slice and enjoy! Store remaining buns unsliced in an airtight container.
